A (very) brief History About Us | Constitution | Accounts | Location map Located adjacent to the River Severn in south Gloucestershire on the edge of the Forest of Dean, Newnham has a long tradition of holding an annual fair and carnival in and around the High Street.
At one time Newnham has seen roundabouts, ferris wheels and helter skelters outside the Victoria Hotel.
Today the entertainment is more modest, and we hold the event on the service road adjacent to the A48 outside The Ship. It is unlikely we would get permission to close off the A48 for a whole weekend of entertainment !
The current committee continues the efforts established a few years back by the then Christmas Light Committee set up to raise funds for the decorations in the High Street every year. When this objective was fulfilled, the current committee took over to continue the tradition of a fair in Newnham to provide entertainment and enjoyment for the Newnham Community and the surrounding area.
